FAQ
Questions about commercial productions?
Here you’ll find answers about workflows, voice direction, casting, international campaigns and more.

What types of commercial productions do you provide sound for?

rekorder studios produces audio for a wide range of advertising formats, from classic TV, cinema and radio spots to online and streaming campaigns, social media ads, Spotify spots and event content. Whether it’s a 6-second spot, a cinematic cut or a TikTok version, we create sound that makes an impact.

How does a commercial production work at rekorder studios?

It depends on the project. We organise the casting of the right voice talent, handle voice recordings in the studio or remotely, and take care of the production process from sound design and editing through to the final mix.
Agencies, film productions and clients can join us live in the studio or give feedback throughout the process, of course remotely too. And if things get tight again, we can move fast. Just get in touch.

How does the communication work during production?

It really depends on you. You can join us in the studio or follow the production remotely via professional audio conferencing. For voice recordings, it is quite common for direction to take place in the studio while clients or agencies join remotely, listen in and contribute.
Further feedback can also take place directly in the studio, or we can send you so called pre mixes for your feedback.
Change requests are just as welcome as applause. :-)

I need a voice for my commercial. Can you help me with that?

Yes. We’ll find the right voice for your commercial. Our voicetalents.berlin pool includes voice talents for commercials, social media, audio branding and international campaigns – from German and international voice talents and distinctive character voices to well known dubbing voices. We handle the casting, organise the recording sessions and coordinate schedules with everyone involved.

What role does voice direction play in commercial productions?

Voice direction is a key factor in the success of a commercial. It plays a major role in getting the tone, timing and connection with the target audience right.
At rekorder studios, we can bring our experience from numerous productions to the table whenever needed. Our audio engineers are highly familiar with the demands of voice recording for commercials and can also support you with tone, timing and interpretation when needed, either quietly in the background or as active advisors. Always with the best interests of the project in mind.

Do you also work with international clients and campaigns?

Yes, absolutely. rekorder studios works internationally, collaborating regularly with agencies and companies from different countries on voice recordings for international productions and campaigns.
Whether it’s a classic voiceover or a lip synced recording, we make sure everything is right, in terms of content, technology and cultural context.
For international campaigns, we also adapt content for the German market.
Our audio engineers are highly familiar with the workflows involved in dubbing and support sessions with a keen sense of timing. For writing lip synced dialogue scripts and directing, we work with a strong network of experienced writers and dubbing directors, carefully matched to the language, target audience and project.
rekorder studios handles recording, voice casting and mixing, making sure your content works in every language version. Whether it’s an international campaign or a localized spot, we bring your content to life, wherever it needs to go.

Are you familiar with all the different technical requirements and standards?

Yes, we know them all, those lovely standards.
rekorder studios delivers productions according to the relevant technical requirements for TV, cinema, streaming and online platforms. We mix, for example, to EBU R128 and ATSC A/85, pay close attention to precise True Peak management and deliver cinema mixes to DCI standards.
Technical requirements? We meet them to the letter. With a good dose of good humour. And if we come across a new one, we’ll get to know it.
