Questions about rekorder music? Here you’ll find answers about music production, composition, soundalikes, music rights and more.
What kind of projects do you produce music for?
Advertising, film, documentaries, brands, podcasts and digital content. From subtle musical accents to original soundtracks. Sometimes subtle, sometimes unmistakable. We create music that fits the story, the visuals, the brand and the intended impact.
Do you compose original music or work with stock music?
Both. Our strength lies in original music, created for film, brands, storytelling and narrative. Behind rekorder music are people with musical backgrounds in composition, production and live music, as well as many years of experience in film, advertising and audio, with a strong sense of timing, atmosphere and impact. Music is never an add on for us, but part of the story. Depending on the project, we also work with carefully selected stock music or combine existing music with original composition, sound design or musical adaptation.
What does a typical music production process look like?
It all starts with the brief: What is the project about? What mood should the music create? What role should music play in the project? Reference tracks, initial ideas or visuals can often help. Based on the brief, we develop musical concepts and compose music that fits the story, timing and intended impact. Depending on the project, we may work directly to picture, create original compositions or develop existing musical ideas further. Feedback and collaboration are, of course, part of the process.
How quickly can you deliver music?
Depending on the project, often at very short notice. First musical ideas, adapting existing music or finding a suitable piece from our repertoire can often be done quickly. Stock music is also one of the faster options, if we can find the right track. Individual compositions and more extensive productions can take a little longer. The timeframe depends on the brief, scope, feedback rounds and the desired level of completion. If it’s urgent, just get in touch. Tell us what matters to you, and we’ll let you know how quickly we can bring your idea to life.
Do you also create sound logos and audio branding?
Yes. We develop sound logos, musical signatures and audio branding for brands, from short sonic identities to more comprehensive musical concepts. Always tailored to the brand, the desired impact and recognizability.
Do you also create soundalikes?
Yes. When music needs to convey a particular mood, energy or direction, we can also produce so called soundalikes on request. In other words, original music that takes inspiration from a reference without copying it. We place great importance on an original creative approach while also taking the relevant legal considerations into account.
How much does original music cost?
There’s no one size fits all answer to what original music costs. It always depends on the project. The scope, territory, intended use, complexity and production effort all play an important role. Additional services such as sound design, as well as different versions and adaptations, can also affect the cost. We’ll advise you transparently and find the right solution for your budget, idea and intended use.
How do music rights and buyouts work?
The cost of music depends not only on the production itself, but also on how the music will be used. Where will it be used? For how long? Online, on social media, in streaming, TV, cinema, podcasts, at POS or at events? Depending on the project, the usage period, territory, exclusivity and required usage rights all play an important role. A buyout covers the agreed usage rights for the specified scope of use. We clarify which rights are required for your project and which licensing model is the right fit.
Can I also record music at your studio?
Absolutely. Alongside commissioned productions, we also support artists with their own projects. You can record, mix and master your music with us. Our recording rooms are equipped with a high quality selection of keyboards, amps, percussion instruments and microphones.
